Women attracted to the iPhone crowd, says Phones4u
Current UK sales of the iPhone are estimated at around the two million mark; with a hefty share of the market within the males’ 20-40 demographic. This is good news for any singletons out there with the increase of popularity forming a good conversation starter. As smart phones continue to surge in popularity more and more people are owning them and downloading various applications.
Lucy from London stated “Where I work we meet a lot of people who are on the road all the time. Whenever I see a guy I fancy who’s playing on an iPhone I always ask him what apps he’s got, and if there’s any he’d recommend. It’s a fun and easy way to get talking.”
Apple (the inventors of iPhone) have picked up on the singles market and for singles like Lucy, there are many apps available such as Lovestruck London, in which young professional subscribers can seek each other out by giving details such as where they eat at lunch, in order to get together for a drink between meetings.
More good news for those men out there who are fixated on the latest gadgets in lieu of a love life; 54% of women (1 in 4) stated that they would be more likely to date a man if he owns a smart phone, as according to one respondent, “if he knows his way around an iPhone then he’s obviously intelligent and well-off.”
Amanda, a 23 year-old primary school teacher from York believes “There’s just something about a man who’s good with computers that makes him more trustworthy,”
Of course there are other reasons why ‘geeks’ get a look in these days include better grooming, good sense of humour and ease of communication. 17% of women quizzed by mobile phones retailer Phones4u say that owning a smart phone makes a man seem more reliable, to which nearly all went on to say that a second date would be likely.
